About DOSA
Doulas of South Africa (DOSA) is a welcoming community dedicated to promoting, developing, and supporting doulas and the doula profession throughout South Africa. As part of our commitment to doulas across the country, we have established strong partnerships with various medical aids that require our doulas to meet specific high standards. Our members go through a rigorous vetting process, ensuring their credentials, experience, and professional references are thoroughly examined.
At DOSA, our doulas embrace an ethos of non-judgmental, confidential, and respectful support tailored to the unique needs of each family they serve. We uphold a comprehensive Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice that all members must adhere to, and any deviation or transgression is addressed through disciplinary measures.
Our primary goal is to function as a unifying, inclusive professional support body for doulas nationwide, offering resources and support while promoting public education and advocacy for the benefits of doula care. We strive to ensure that our members maintain a consistently high level of professionalism, wherever they work, contributing to the growth and protection of the doula profession by providing optimal maternal care that responds to the needs of women and their infants.
DOSA is dedicated to building bridges of understanding, respect, and communication with all healthcare professions, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for the benefit of maternal health across South Africa.
